a few students gave acceptable functions, but even fewer showed that these functions satisfied the desired conditons.
I believe this was a VERY difficult problem, please don't be discouraged if you didn't get the answer correct.

(5) 25 pts.

students also had difficulty with this problem.
many students wanted to prove this by contradiction, but it's just as easy to prove in the postive way, and more elegant.
I think it would be very beneficial to look at the problems to both of these problems.
